ALTER EGO DE PALMER, MARGAUX 2020
Alter Ego is the second wine of the famous Troisième Cru Classé, Château Palmer.
The vines used for its production share the same vineyard as the first wine. This vineyard, covering an area of about 55 hectares, is made up of deep Garonne gravel soils and is planted with grape varieties typical of the Margaux appellation with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The vines are 38 years old on average.
Respectful of the environment and biodiversity, the estate is cultivated according to the principles of sustainable agriculture.

As for the first wine, Alter Ego of Palmer benefits from manual harvesting with successive sorting, first in the vineyard and then in the cellar before a meticulous vinification, by grape varieties and according to a parcel method, in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats. This is followed by ageing in oak barrels (at least 25% of which are new) which can last between 17 and 18 months.
The 2020 vintage is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. A generously fruit-driven and lively wine, with remarkable freshness, ripe tannins and a satisfying finish.
Alter Ego is renowned for its great regularity over the years, as is Château Palmer, the property's first wine.
