OWNER/COMMUNE M. Claude LASSAGNE / Abzac
PITCH
This wine has a strong percentage of Merlot which confers a suppleness and a roundness typical of the right bank of the Garonne. Its finesse, elegance and delicacy give it a feminine connotation.
BACKGROUND
Family property, run for more than three generations by the Lassagne family. The vineyard of 4 Ha is situated in the commune of Abzac and benefits from sandy and clayey soils remarkably well exposed and well drained.
AVERAGE AGE OF VINES: 30 years
GRAPE VARIETIES: 75% Merlot - 25% Cabernet Franc
WINEMAKING/MATURING
Mechanical picking with carefull sorting of the grapes on a sorting table. The vinification is traditional with maceration lasting 2 to 3 weeks. The wines are aged in vats during 6 months and racked every 2 months. Before the bottling, the wines are fined and then filtered on earth.
TASTING NOTES:
A superb, brilliant ruby hue, with deep garnet tints. Generous bouquet, a marriage of spices with red-berried fruit and cherry. Balanced at the attack, the palate is underpinned by velvety tannins and chewy extract that evolves right to the finish, the aromatic back-of-palate redolent of blackcurrant and blackberry. A wine of elegance and finesse typical of this terroir where Merlot Noir thrives.
AGEING
An elegant wine from this prestigious terroir which is well worth drinking from 2018, but can be cellared for several years.
BOTTLING
Bottled for Maison Sichel
