The superb maturity of Cantemerle’s Cabernet Sauvignon is evident up front by its degree of concentration and complexity—the sign of a great Médoc wine. Before tasting this fine bottle, you’ll want to transfer it to a decanter an hour before serving. After this preparatory step you’ll discover the wine’s fuller aromatic richness: the bouquet expresses cherry, olive and tobacco notes, as well as hints of oak that are still somewhat present.

In the mouth, silky tannins launch a symphony of spicy, peppery and fruity flavors upon the palate that are of great quality and generously supported by a long, full softness. The finish is lengthy and lively, neither limp nor harsh. A well-constructed balance is the foundation which supports a structure of freshness, elegance, persistence, and a perfectly controlled power.

The Alleys of Cantemerle assert themselves year after year as the same kind of flexible and elegant Medoc, which can be drunk young. Les Allées de Cantemerle, a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 8% Merlot is the second wine of Cantermerle and comes mainly from the château’s young vines, and is made like its elder brother. Les Allées de Cantemerle has the same personality as the grand vin, but a shorter ageing potential. As it ages more quickly, Les Allées de Cantemerle is generally ready to be consumed within several years of the vintage.



On the nose: gorgeous aromas of red currant, pomegranate and cranberry effortlessly drift from the glass. Underlying the fruit are subtle notes of roses and toast. The first sip is beautiful, where you instantly realize that the wine is simply delicious. Essence of Amarena cherries dominate the palate with a slight peppery note and graphite minerality. The tannins are extremely well-integrated and the acidity is broad and round, giving a soft and pleasurable mouthfeel that can be enjoyed almost without moderation. -Princeton Corkscrew
